I have 96 f350 cclb. I just converted my truck to diesel. Everything was fine from my donor truck. Now my trans only shifts first and second not 3rd or 4rth or reverse. And Im getting codes for my pcm and idm now. Would that affect my trans also? Where should i start thanks for any help or input
Yes sir. I purchased a used trans and put that in and no luck at all. So i had my donor trucks trans converted to 4wd and now it is acting up. The pcm code is gone now lose connection. So they must have messed up my trans
Your swapped entire wiring harnesses and all connections are made? and if it will go into reverse when you hammer it sounds like your tranny is toast or out of fluid, if its not out of fluid and it goes into gear when you hammer it you need a tranny cause that means there is no clutch material left to hold onto.
dropping the pan isnt going to tell you any more than checking the fluid every truck with over 100k is going to have significant clutch material on the magnet in bottom of transmission pan.
Your right but if you have no knowledge of transmissions then what is the point in dropping the pan. No average joe is going to rebuild a automatic transmission in there garage with no prior knowledge.
