Changed oil '01 7.3 Now no start & HPOP is full?

Changed the oil in a 01 7.3 without filling the new oil filter. It started and ran for 10 second then started to bog down and almost died then picked back up and ran fine let it run for a few minutes and shut it down for the night. Next day i went to start the truck and it started fine ran for 10 seconds bogged down and died and wont restart. So today before i tried to start it i checked the HPOP and its full and I put 2 new batteries in it for giggles and tried it again after sitting all night and it cranks and hits infrequently like its trying to start but wont. What could it be?

during the time you did get it to run did you happen to notice where your oil pressure gauge was reading?

my S.I.L. truck did this exact same thing, it ended up being the IDM... He fired it up, move it out of the gargae into the driveway and shut it off. Later that day, hge went to pull the truck back up in the garage and it would not start.
I had him build a hose/gauge setup to check rail pressure, ok. Checked fuel pressure, ok. had him put an outlet tester on the injector wire, no spark.
Brought a known good used IDM up there with me, installed it and the truck fired right up. Ended up ordering a modded one from Swamps...

Anyone else have any ideas? Is it a bad idea to give it a few short squirts of starting fluid while cranking to try and get it going?

starting fluid is a no no. Always fill the filter. Check the hpop res in the morning before trying to start it.
