I want to change my fuel filters (due to the fact I just bought the truck and I have noidea when they where lasdt changed) but I don't know where they r or how many their r on my 95 f250 7.3
Pretty sure theres only the one thats with the fuel bowl. Open your hood, remove your engine cover (if it has one sill) and there is a big round plastic thing in a large bowl (your fuel bowl) and the plastic top is your fuel filter, get a rachet and short enxension and screw out the old fuel filter and put in your new one.
I don't know why you would need a ratchet and a short extension to remove the lid, I just use a screwdriver or a wrench wedged between the fins of the lid. Also there are two types of filters available for our trucks. One has the lid attached and one does not. If your truck has the separate filter and lid and your new filter is just one piece save the old lid in a plastic zip lock bag just in case you need it in the future.
Also you will want to drain the filter housing. There is a yellow lever on the passenger side and by turning it 90 degrees it will open up the fuel/water drain. Also get yourself a piece of 3/8" rubber hose to put over the drain tube or you will end up with diesel all over your front end. If you look at the front passenger side of the engine you will notice the tube and where it ends above the front end. Also doing it with the hose you can catch the fuel in case you want to check it for water. With diesel fuel being lighter than water the water will sink to the bottom of a bottle and you will be able to see it.
Two reasons. To keep from making a mess when you reinstall the new filter and to drain off any water that may be sitting in the bottom of the housing that hasn't hit the sensor yet.
Water sitting in the bottom of the housing is the major cause of pitting of the bottom of the housing causing leaks.
