So I have been workin on lifting this f250 an I want to lift it one more time to 10" lift.what do you think i should do?
its sitting at 7.5" with toyo open country 38x15.50r20
Heres when it was at 6" with 35x12.50r20 nitto trail grappler
Here is a pic of when it was leveled out on 35x12.50 trail grappler
Do something
while it looks good as is I am sure you can't articulate like you should and one good bump pulling into someplace while turning could slice a tire
im not a huge fan of the cutouts. it does turn full lock just like it sits right now. i had to trim the plastic a little bit. im just not sure if 10" will make them 38 look small.
They will look alright!! also later down the road you can get larger tires when those are done. I have the Icon 12.5" lift on my 02 and it netted me 14" of lift in the front and I`m running 38" . Of course I went small , for a few reasons, my first lift was a rubicon express 6.5" lift and I ran 37" tires . I regeared for 37" tires. I went with the 38" better for the gears I was running and I also thought I would wait and see once the 38" were done maybe I would go a little higher and then be done and regear for that final set up. I`m almost at that point to decide to stay at this height and run 40" -42" tire and regear for those and call it good. I say go as big as you want , because after awhile that heigth really doesn`t seam all that big. Here is a picture of my truck with 12.5" and 38" tires. ? for you all if a 10" -12.5" will clear a 39"-40" and 38" look so bad, why do all those OUO trucks that are sitting on 16" plus of lift and are running 40" , why don`t they look as funny? I`m in no way nocking OUO trucks , just the sizes of lift to tire sizes.
I think that looks really good! I think it helps that you are not running a 22-24" rim. I am probably going to go with a 38 on a 20 for the next wheel and tire package... LOL I also like the look where the bottom of the truck is at the top of the tire.
From experience. GO to the height that you want. Don't keep stepping up, just gets spendy.
I would stick with the 38's, lift it and see how you like it. You would be real surprised how much lift you actually need to clear those. I noticed the biggest change in power and mileage with 40's.
With my 40's and Icon's 12.5" of lift (I bet I was upwards to 14" of lift like Astro who posted above), I could still rub the fenders when I went to the dunes and if I bounce into a parking lot... LOL
People like to see that real small fender gap. That to society means WOW you can clear those big tires even though you can't even get out of the parking lot without making a little bit of noise LOL. But what people fail to understand is geometry. If you are actually going to USE your truck offroad or you are a pretty aggressive driver and don't plan on crunching any fenders. You gotta go high (without cutouts). Measure out your where your bumpstops and your shocks bottom out at and see where your tire ends up.
With 38's and 10" of lift the truck will look great, drive great, and you can use it.
The main reason One Up Offroad trucks has big lifts and small tires is functionality. It makes them functional since most of those trucks actually get hammered on... You wouldn't believe it but they do. I would have never believed it, but after hanging out with these guys they do push the limits. LOL
This truck is only lifted 10" and runs 38's and has like 16" of functional suspension travel.
Looks pretty bad ass in this video as well....
Either way, 10" of lift with 38's or 40's is going to look good. Good luck!
That was the point I was trying to make , you can stuff a great big tire under any size lift , but if you use the suspension you have to have room for travel, or be willing to fix alot of metal!! Or just have a street queen. Dave Anderson a good friend of mine who have Diabloffroad, lifted my truck and was one of the first guy`s on any of these truck sites who had a OUO set up. Here is a picture of his truck I think he had 22-23" of lift cutouts and 46 mickey thompson tires. One OUTSTANDING truck! He has tons of wheel well space.
