I've been back and forth for a long time on weather or not to try some painted bumpers/grill. I came across a VERY nice set on CL the other day. They came off of a 2005, but the guy pulled them off when the truck was one week old, to put ranch hand bumpers on. So these have been wrapped up in storage every since. They are already silver (I'll just have to put my top pad on the front one) and the price was right. I picked them up today. On the lookout for a paintable grill
Ok, I ended up with a day off today. The weather was AWESOME!! So I decided to go ahead and switch the bumpers over. Not a whole lot to say. I took the old ones off and put the new ones on lol. While I had the front bumper off, I went ahead and cleaned up the wiring on my HID's for my foglights. It was just kind of crammed in there and zip-tied before. I used some zip-ties to mount the ballasts to the foglight brackets, then I used another zip-tie to pull all of the wiring up behind the bracket. Here's what it looked like when I finished:
On the front bumper, I pulled my upper pad (silver) off of my chrome bumper, and put it in place of the white pad on the bumper I bought. The rear was just a matter of unbolting the old one, taking it off, and putting the new one in it's place. I really like the painted bumpers, now I just need to get a grill ordered. I know, enough chit-chat, here are some pics of the finished product:
Damn I'm glad you did this. You and I have the same truck so I was always able to use yours for visual reference ( black wheels, painted bumpers, lift, etc...) so I have been talking about doing this. But I dont know if I like it or not because silver is such a tricky color IDK can you take some better shots in bright sunlight?? You should lift that bitch back up a lil anyway.....
Not sure what you mean about it being tricky. I'm VERY picky. The color matches fine. But I think because my truck has had 6 years in the sun and these haven't, it's not perfect. So I'll probably just have them sprayed when the new grill gets painted. As far as lifting, the most I would ever do is a leveling kit, which may be next up. The only reason I may level it is because shock choices really suck at stock height.
I like the painted bumpers also. I didn't paint mine but I have a 2000 and I painted the plastic molding on the bumper to match the truck. Ill take pics when it is all done

I really like it!!! My 08 is silver with charcoal on the bottom and chrome bumpers. I've seen many trucks with charcoal bumpers. I either need to find a set like you did or have mine painted.
I gotta say your truck looks really clean all silver. looks really good!
