I was at the Off Road Expo in Pomona this past Sunday and got to talking to a rep from a drive line company. I was asking about the shudder that our trucks are famous for. He said that something that his company has done in the past is to squirt silicone the "open" areas of the rubber surrounding the center support bearing carrier. By "open areas" I mean those "cut outs" (I don't know how else to describe them) between the bearing and the metal bracket. Apparently it keeps the rubber from flexing so much which in turn reduces the shudder. It makes sense. Anyone ever heard of this before? Or tried it?
I have heard of using urathane adhesive ( the stuff used to install windshields). Its supposed to be stronger than silcone and less resiliant to flex. I used it to fill in the voids on engine mounts on imports. It worked really well.
1sd I have about the same setup as you and have no shudder so maybe check your carrier bearing shim setup ?
I have not heard our trucks were famous for having a shudder other than if u have transmission issues
