I have a 2006 f250 XLT with a 6.0. I have put 35" trail grapplers on 20" wheels. I also put a 6" procomp radius arm lift on this past weekend. i left the factory steering dampner hooked up. sway bar is on a drop bracket. the lift came with longer springs and radius arms. pitman arm drop and track bar drop. all of a sudden the truck is makin a popping noise. i have got under the truck and checked all the balljoints and everything. i cant find the popping noise. it feels like its in the pass side wheel only when you hit the brakes. but if your sitting in the drivers seat you can feel it in the floor board. i have a little bit of play in the drag link bolt for some reason. not sure why cause i used the factory bolt in the new drop bracket. can anyone read this and maybe tell me what the noise might be. i have checked all the ball joints and tierod ends...
ok. so thanks to everyone for the amazing help. ha! this PSN community sucks. but i did find out on my own what the noise is. the track bar that hooks the axle to the frame is where the noise comes from. turns out the big bolt at the top of the track bar needs to be torqued to 440ft lb of torque. how do you get that?.. put a big a$$ wrench on it with about a 3-4ft bar on the end and tighten it as tight as u can. it will be close to 440ft lb torque. and it will fix the problem.
All Pro Junk #### makes noises..I hate my 8" stage II ProComp setup....Will be buying a Carli System next summer. Sucks cause it costs what I wasted on ProJunk,.
the noise has nothing to do with Procomp quality
I had the same track bar noise
it takes two people to find it lol
keep an eye on that bolt 440 lbs is hard to achive properly
Super zombie thread...BUT
How does one achieve that torque properly?
Can it be done on the ground? I've had 2 shops tell me it's as tight as its going to get....but it's still noisy...
Heck yeah. It's very noisy...
And both shops are reputable with the high powered guns. I watched one guy stay on it, and no change.
I got a little room but the long bar gets awkward under there. Neither shop tried a long bar
Yeah mine is a different sound.
It's like dry rubber trapped behind a bolt that is forced to move. That slow "creaking" sound.
But I took both end loose and used grease thinkin that each end was just dry or something. Then I thought, the sway bar links are new.
Those links are just rubber inserts in a steel eye, so I actuated the sway bar and it's quiet...
I have yet to lube the adjustable part yet
3/4" torque wrench that goes to 600ft/lbs or a doubler on a 250-300ft/lbs 1/2" drive.
Don't rely on impact wrenches, pipes on undersized torque wrenches, borrow the right tool, rent it, or pay a heavy equipment mechanic to do it, might cost you lunch money.
Radius arm bolts will clunk if they aren't tight too.
Ok I'll start with new hardware and go from there.
Thanks
