i have a 04 6.0 auto when the truck is cold tranny shifts just like normal but when it warms up there is a shutter when u let off brake and when it shifts to 2nd and 3rd it has a bad shutter if u are easy on the throttle if u mash it to the floor it almost seams to slide rather then shift the tow light has never flashed it just started to do this last night i had fluids changed about 2 months ago im 99% sure they put dextron III in not mercon sp if i change the fluid back will this solve the problem or did they mess up the tranny?
Could have burnt your trans up putting the wrong fuild in there. SP and LV are the only things that are suppose to be in the 5R110 trans. Better take it back to who ever did it and start barking.
i tried it did no good so im footing the bill on this on this one so any help would be appreciated kinda hoping there is some saving it only dose it warm and just started so im not driving it till it flushed
It might fix itself as the filters gradually filter out the gunk that's in the older ATF. MERCON SP is a much purer ATF, and that's why older ATF will kill this trans. Give it some time, and if it doesn't fix itself you'll probably need new solenoids.
Since we are on the subject... Mark, what would be the cause of having no reverse but the drive gears operate just fine??? Neutral also somehow turned into drive also. When I put it in reverse, it puts a load on the motor, but wont go anywhere. Ohh and no tow/haul light flashing.
Right on the money man. Would you suggest getting a Modified Direct Clutch Solenoid to replace the factory one, since I am at the solenoid reassembly point? Thanks! GoGo Diesel Modified Direct Clutch Solenoid
It's so cool to see Mark swoop in like superman and solve problems for members.
