I was on stainless diesel's facebook page today and they are saying they are going to have drop in batmowheels for are stock chargers soon..I guess there starting with the big turbo and are gonna be doing the small turbo later on. They claim to have picked up 36-45 wheel horsepower and dropped 200* egt on duramax and cummins powered trucks with just tow tunes. the wheels are going to be in the $400 range.. might be a worth while up grade to hold me over till I can afford some MP's.. will see
Is that for the pair or just a single wheel? Either way does sound good and looking forward to hear results from people on here. How hard you think this instal would be? Something a driveway mechanic could do or better left for shop?
It's a cool concept. Only problem is getting to the turbo's to replace the wheels. Might want to have a few other mods ready to do so you can pull the cab and feel like it's a worthwhile job.
I will probably be doing the Air Dog upgrade from Elite in the near future, and may do this at the same time since my cab will be off.
Well, I was looking at the compressor housing on my truck tonight and its only held in place by four easily excessable bolts..so that is pretty easily removed, from there I would think just grab the wheel gently with a good shop rag or glove and loosen the nut hold the compressor wheel. When you need to torque it back down (or you couldnt get it off the way I said before) just spin a couple nuts down the shaft and snug them together so you have a point to wrench from.. all in all for just the atmospheric(big) turbo id say it take a drive way mechanic about 45 mins..ill have to look at the small turbo to see how difficult that would be. probably not to bad
Might be able to get it. If you do how are you going to balance it? Is the new wheel balanced? Just pull the turbos a pay a turbo shop to install it. Also your BP is gonna go up if these wheels do increase flow cause your still going to have the restriction on the exhaust side.
I don't know Dan. Hard to say. I think 60's would be better matched with Tow Powers. I think these wheels are just going to help clean up what the bone stock setup can't. With the big tunes, we haze quite a bit with stock turbos.
If your already gated, they would definitely be a good option though. Just don't think you should throw more fuel at it.
Sounds like a good add on for those of you who may plan on keeping stock turbos. How would this effect a truck that was returned to stock except the batmowheel
I am REALLY intrested in hearing about this mod and how it works for you. What do you think so far about the product after the install? I know you didnt hit the dyno yet, but as far as steetablity, what do you think?
Good to hear! What does the SEAT of the pants Lie O meter tell ya?
