hey guy
I got a 1997 ford f250 diesel that i am about to do a solid axle swap on and I am just looking for any info. I just picked up a dana60 front and rear axles and am going to keep the front and just sell the rear. I am planning on doing a shackle reversal kit from sky and was wondering if 3" or 5" is better? I am looking for about 8-9 inches of lift so any suggestions would be awesome. If you got any parts for sale let me know. Thanks
Do the 3". The 5" one hangs down too low. Then get a 4" lift spring to put in there. Then the d60 alone will give 1" to 1.5", so theres 8" of lift right there. Are you looking to get 8-9" of lift after putting bigger tires on or just with suspension?
right on, thats the direction i was thinking about going. I was just planning on about 8 inches before tires so i think you are right about the 3" SRK and a 4" spring. Do you have any input on Sky's rear shackle kit?
Yea i was looking at the rear shackle flip kit from sky. Anything to help the ride but not compromise towing ability. I dont really want to run block in the rear other than the stock ones.
Some might say that flipped shackles will make for poor towing performance, I couldn't tell you. The '79 was long promoted to toy duty before I did the flip. ..................but think of this, even a Dodge (God help me! :ford 3500 dually has compression style shackles in the rear suspension, and I'm pretty sure they're rated to tow a little bit of weight.
Here is my 96 with ORUs RSK(2.5") and Superlifts 4" spring w a couple leafs removed. The rear is a 6" skyjacker spring w fitted add-a-leaf and the factory 4" block
In the pic it has 35/14.50/16s but 38 fit no problem
That is a beautiful rig man. I had a 97 CCLB with a 11 inch lift on 38's, boy do i sure miss it. I like your setup, thanks for the pic cause it gives me a idea of ride height and look. Again very nice truck
I have heard the same thing and read it on a couple different forums. I guess the way to correct it is to move the shackle location back a inch. I am not sure if that would totally correct the issue though. I just have never run a rear shackle flip before so wanted to get a little input.
Moving the shackle hanger won't affect the pinion angle at all. Many people (myself included) move the rear hanger forward so the shackle isn't so verticle. The suspension ride better like this / rather than straight up and down.
This is what mine looks like. You can see the factory holes behind the Sky hanger.
There is one more thing to consider when doing a shackle flip, the rear tires WILL be moved ahead approx 1-1.5"s. It doesn't hurt anything, but it does look kind of goofy with the rear tires not being centered in the wheelwells. I used these Add a Leafs, Zero Rate for 4x4 Suspensions from Offroad Design. Gained an inch of lift and got the wheels centered again.

Their isn't a reason to do a rear flip unless your going Very tall.
35" tires will clear with a 3" RS kit V and B code SD springs abd a F350 rear block..we helped thousands over the last 10+ years do this mod since we developed it. PM me we have everything needed.
D60..from a OBS to a new truck...we have done them all. PM me if I can get you more info based on specific years.
