Well made up a parts list for my powerstroke weather to swap in cummins or build powerstroke up. If I add in cost of cummins motor, ht3b turbo/pipeing itll be bout same to build the stroker. So what do you guys think?
Cummins list:
Industrial injection race 3/dragon fly 150hp
Pacbrake 4k gsk
191 delievery valves
Air dog 150
Afe blade runner intake
Pacbrake 60lb springs
Arp stud kit
Plus: clutch, ht3b turbo, pipeing for twins, gauges and exhaust
E-1999 Powerstroke list:
Full Force diesel 238 or 250cc reman injectors(both same price from php)
PHP Custom tuned chip
Air Dog 150(kt performance)
Arp head stud kit(kt performance)
T-500 hpop
GTP38R turbo(riff raff)
ss hpx(riff raff)
Comp cams 910 springs(riff raff)
Ford overhual kit(riff raff)
Plus: Gauges, clutch and exhaust
As much as I like a cummins and how much power they can put out I would stick with the psd. In my eyes unless the truck is dedicated to towing, racing, sled pulling or a dyno truck a cummins swap is just the same as everyone doing harley head lights, just over done and played out.
Dude thank you so much for saying that. I'm so tired of seeing those damn lights on every truck. Unless your truck is black or dark blue they look horrible IMO.
im going to have to disagree a lil, I would like to have a cummins in my truck. Gives you more room to work on it, could provide better mpg if the truck is set up right, cheaper to mod, seems to handle the mods a little better.
Dont get me wrong i like my 7.3l but damn is it exspensive to mod and not achieve as much as you could with a cummins. If it aint one thing then its another. Gotta get injectors that cost as much as a dang cummins motor, then gotta get an oil system, then gotta get a turbo, and so on. Ya i know the cummins cost to mod to but it doesn't seem to cost as much as the 7.3l to mod. It seems like alot of people blow through modded 7.3s as well. The cummins just seems to hold up better.
Its up to you though, the big thing in the swap is the trans set up. If i did one i would be on the fence as to what trans to use.
yeah cummins is definitely cheaper and easier to mod...and it does hold up better too haha. To be honest it really is the better motor but I just prefer powerstrokes. Plus its always nice to be different
