97 f350 death wobble/hop

They guys! i am now a proud powerstroke owner! I just bought a 97 regular cab f350 with a shackle flip about 6" of lift on 37's. i had a problem the other day when i hit a couple bumps in the road at probably about 35 and it went nuts, the front started hopping really bad like you were driving on a washboard until i slowed down then it went away. Now One- i looked under it and there is no trac bar, two the 37s are fluid balanced. I would imagine i should start with a trac bar but idk how big of a drop bracket to get for the mount and where to get that and a trac bar. i jacked it up and the ball joints are tight but the leaf spring bushings look like they have had better days and thats pretty much all that keeps my axle from moving side to side right now. any help opinions or experience is appreciated! thanks

Your track bar should be parallel with the drag link. That should get you close to a measurement

You need to get a trac bar under there. Don't ask I how I know

Replace all the worn out components.

And welcome.

Also make sure the steering box is in adjustment after you put the track bar on...

Theres an adjustment on the box. You can adjust it to tighten the box, but you CAN overtighten it and cause the box to wear out inside.

Theres a jam nut, and a screw on the top of the box opposite the pitman arm. loosen the jam nut, and tighten the screw a 1/4 turn at a time, then tighten the jam nut and try it out.

Like I said get the track bar on first. Is there play in your steering wheel? My lightnings death wobble was from the loose steering box. Too much free play in the steering let it wobble badly at random

Too much of an adjustment and the steering will not want to return to center. You'll know it when you do it.
