i have an airdog 2 165 gph with the adjustable regulator on my 1996 f250. i was wanting to get rid of the stock fuel pump and plug the hole with a freeze plug, well my question is will the air dog work as a "fuel pump" and replace the stock fuel pump? the air dog tech over the phone said yes i could do that but not sure to believe him. any info on doing a mod like this will be appreciated.
the AD II is normally a stand alone fuel pump and not used as a booster pump for a mechanical pump. You should do a regulated return fuel system with a fuel bowl delete when you put the AD II in. I have an ADII on my 97 with a regulated return fuel system and a fuel bowl delete.

that was my plan here shortly. what exactly does the regulated return do? i understand it returns airated fuel back to the return line but the AD II does that too. do i have to have a regulated return setup in the valley if i delete the fuel bowl?
Generally people mount the fuel regulator either in the motor valley or some where under the hood, you want it close to the heads when the returned fuel comes out so that the desired (about 65psi) fuel pressure is maintained. The idea behind a regulated return (and anyone is free to correct me if i'm wrong) is to make sure all 8 injectors get a constant flow of fuel and are not starved for fuel like a dead head system. It does help to remove any air bubbles from the fuel as well.
i am really considering the regulated return/ bowl delete from strictly diesel. its finally for sale for around 570$
