I put my 06 F250 on the dyno at the Bloomsburg, PA truck show this weekend and the numbers have me a little confused and dissapointed. First run put down 382hp 741tq and second run was 357hp 642tq. It seemed to be losing fuel at the top end but I dont understand why. I have the following mods running on 37x13.50 Toyos.
SCT X3 Innovative Race tune
Swamps 58v mild tune ficm
RCD full EGR delete
RCD 205cc injectors
ARP studs
Air Dog 150
regulated return
Bully Dog rapid flow intake w/ CFM+
5" to 7" stacks
custom built stage 5 transmission
Do those numbers seem right for the mods done? I understand the tires rob a goo bit of power but I was hoping for 450+hp and around 900-1000tq. If anyone could help out I'd greatly appreciate it.
turbo is probably holding you back...how many rpms where you turnin at the top? could have been hitting the rev limiter some...what was your fuel pressure reading?
Get a fuel pressure gauge asap. Was it fueling hard? Smoke? Check fuel filters. You should be 450+ for sure. Does it drive abnormally? All boost tubes connected? Did it make boost ? Regulated return regulator showing pressure?
you definitly should be at the 500hp mark with the mods you have. I've heard of guys making nearly 500hp with stock turbo, 190cc injectors and supporting mods. The way the HP numbers were jumping around...seems like the dyno operator didn't know how to operator the dyno maybe.
I second the fuel pressure gauge. That seems to be neglected all to often, and it can be worth its weight in gold when you are diagnosing something like this or a bad filter ect.
I have a fuel pressure gauge stays steady 18psi during any driving conditions. I didnt think to check the regulator pressure. It did smoke but not real heavy.
I dont think it was the operator (never know though) My buddy dynoed his 6.4 at 518 with his aftermarket wheels and tires and two months ago he put down 540 with factory tires. That seems pretty close.
18psi is waaaaaay low. It shouldn't go under 45psi. Mine stays at 60psi. Is the 18psi reading a line pressure reading or is it at the pump? Cause if you're getting the reading at the pump...then it could be accurate cause the airdog 150 is a low pressure pump. My low pressure FASS pump system is 14psi...however overall fuel pressure is 60psi at the aeromotive regulator.

Not sure as to where the fuel pressure gauge is ran to. The gauge on the regulator reads 70. Sorry guys, I'm not all that mechanically inclined so any help would be appreciated. I know I have a lot to learn in the diesel world
18psi of pump pressure is absolutly fine cause it is a low pressure pump. I was running a 0-30psi fuel pressure gauge with the sending unit on my low pressure FASS system and it stayed steady at 14-15psi. However the other fuel pressure gauge at my aeromotive regulator on the engine was at 60psi....and my setup is still running strong. Seeing that you have good pump pressure and good pressure(70psi) at the regulator...the problem seems to be someplace else i think. Now, if you were running a high pressure pump and had the sending unit at the pump and got a reading of 18psi....then i'd be worried. But remember, your 18psi reading is at your low pressure airdog pump....right? If so....you're good to go.
That's because it's a low pressure pump. Your FASS is putting out 55psi because it's a high pressure pump system that eliminates the factory pump....right? I was using it with my factory pump awhile back. Now i'm using it with my high pressure fuelab pump. My FASS low pressure liftt pump feeds the high pressure fuelab pump so the fuelab pump doesn't hafta work as hard. The airdog 150 is also a low pressure pump that is made to be used as a piggy back pump with the factory pump. However the new airdog II is a high pressure pump that eliminates the factory pump. FASS has a series of low pressure pumps and high pressure pump systems.
I'm planning on changin the fuel filters and the airdog filters asap. Also cleaned out my air filter. I take it the fuel pressure gauge is mounted somewhere other than the fuel bowl up top.
unless you put the gauge up there, i'm not sure where it is. if it's tapped into your airdog, then there is something wrong there. it comes from the factory regulated between 50-55 psi for the 6.0.
