I have a 96 F250 with the 3 stripe pinstripe going down both sides. I think it's the original stripe but it needs to go. It is missing in lots of places. The problem is the parts that are missing left behind the adhesive and it is crispy and old. What I use to remove the old adhesive and the remaining pinstriping?
I'm glad you mentioned that eraser wheel. I found some videos showing the use of that 3M Stripe Off wheel and was wondering if it would work for my case. I'll try it. Thanks.
My truck used to have MILES of pin striping on it... The silver at the bottom isn't solid. It's individual pin stripes.
Eraser wheel took care of the cab when I had the bed replaced. Just go slow, you can't go balls out on the drill or you will burn the paint. You'll find the "sweet spot" speed.

Don't worry about it too much... you've gotta be a real dumbass to burn all the way through the paint. But it is possible to put some marks on the clear coat... I did that on mine. Nothing that some polishing can't remove.
When I took off the dried up/cracked pinstripe on my 03, I scraped it off with those plastic things from vato zone to "remove stripes". I used some gas to make it soft and take the remaining adhesive off. My paint still looks good so I don't think it hurt much lol
So here's how I finally got the stripes off. Plastic putty knife to scrape the stripe off and Goo gone and elbow grease to remove the remaining adhesive. I just put some Goo Gone on some shop paper towels and rubbed away. I then gave it a good washing and scrubbing. Might not have been the smartest thing to use but couldn't hurt considering how gnarly the paint job is anyway after 16 years.
I used oven cleaner on my truck this weekend, worked great. I had some old style pin striping all over my tailgate and just sprayed the oven cleaner on, let it sit for a few minutes and wiped it off. Depending on how thick or old, you might need to repeat a few times
