How to remove OLD pinstripe?

I have a 96 F250 with the 3 stripe pinstripe going down both sides. I think it's the original stripe but it needs to go. It is missing in lots of places. The problem is the parts that are missing left behind the adhesive and it is crispy and old. What I use to remove the old adhesive and the remaining pinstriping?

Get an eraser wheel and go slow... You don't want to burn through the paint.

I'm glad you mentioned that eraser wheel. I found some videos showing the use of that 3M Stripe Off wheel and was wondering if it would work for my case. I'll try it. Thanks.

My truck used to have MILES of pin striping on it... The silver at the bottom isn't solid. It's individual pin stripes.

Eraser wheel took care of the cab when I had the bed replaced. Just go slow, you can't go balls out on the drill or you will burn the paint. You'll find the "sweet spot" speed.

Great! Then I will get one this weekend and try it. In all honestly, the truck is old enough if I burn the paint on my test spot I won't cry about it.

Don't worry about it too much... you've gotta be a real dumbass to burn all the way through the paint. But it is possible to put some marks on the clear coat... I did that on mine. Nothing that some polishing can't remove.

Re: How to remove OLD pinstripe?

When I took off the dried up/cracked pinstripe on my 03, I scraped it off with those plastic things from vato zone to "remove stripes". I used some gas to make it soft and take the remaining adhesive off. My paint still looks good so I don't think it hurt much lol

Seriously, oven cleaner works great. Sounds scary but I did it on my Syclone and it was awesome and easy. Try on small area firt.
