Is it worth it and if so who makes the best one? Is it only GoGo and Griffen? has anyone attempted to make one of only round tubing or sheet metal and basically ditch the entire stock piece?
Ah, incase you haven't read the threads about Griffin Diesel...you might want to stay away from that one. But then again, you most likely probably wont be able to get ahold of the guy.
I had a gogo manifold on my old truck and I was happy with it. My spool up was noticeably better and my egts @ WOT dropped about 200 degrees. Never did a before and after dyno but it did seem to add some SOTP power.
I have a GoGo intake on my truck but its currently in the shop so nothing I can report on. Doug said it will be very noticeable of a difference between it and a stocker though so I'm stoked to try it out haha.
griffens a douche bag super nice guy a first. i bet if you call him right now you will get ahold of him and im sure he will be happy to steal your intake make sure you got a spare if you feel like donating one to him
Does anyone know what the thickness of the material is on the GoGo intake manifolds that is used for the top plate. Gonna try and find a machine shop to do one for me.
So you want someone to open up their GoGo intake, a piece designed and built by one of our site sponsors, so you can copy it? Gimme a friggin' break. oke: :badidea:
What I want is to save all the $$$ I can. I'm probably just going to buy one from Doug but I would like to play around with doing one on my own. I bought a used manifold just for this. Maybe even something all out of tubing. Not trying to rip him off and start selling them or anything. I really just want to know what thickness material needs to be used in fabrication of intakes and such so I can start playing around with fabrication some. I really like welding its sort of a hobby for me that I'm not real good at by the way. LOL
I also have Doug's stage one manifold.
It is a nice piece for sure.
I ordered and paid for mine on June 5th last year, and got it in December.
Materials were hard to get...

I ordered mine in August of last year, got it in December. No biggie, I wasn't in a hurry. Obviously, ours came from the same run.
FWIW, Doug had a hard time getting time on the CNC machine. Since he doesn't own the machine he had to wait for it to be idle, which wasn't often. Unless he went and bought one for himself, I don't see that situation changing much. Either way, it's a VERY nice piece, well worth the wait.
As far as sharing material dimentions. Go buy one yourself, then take some measurements. Doug has countless hours and $$$ into the development of these things. The time and effort he has put into dialing in the CNC program itself is quite impressive. This isn't a deal where he just whacks off the top, hogs out the ports and calls it a day.
I can't see any of Doug's customers stabbing him in the back by sharing this kind of info.
Not trying to be a dick but i wouldn't be happy if i spent hours weeks or months developing something that has been perfected and proven just to have someone decide they don't want to pay me for my product just copy it because they don't want to wait. Sometimes the wait and the money is worth a good product.
For example, you call a plumber he tells you 500 to fix a few leaks you say to hell with it i can do it my self. You invest money and time to fix it not knowing what your doin really. Well then all the sudden it doesn't work out now you into what you paid and the time spent just to have said plumber come out and repair what you tried to fix but couldn't. And if said plumber operated like i do, i would add some to the price because you nevr know what they screwed up.
I just wanted to make one more thing clear here. I'm not in any way trying to copy Doug's exact design here. I'm interested in the fabrication of sheet metal intakes. Tons of people make sheet metal intakes for all sorts of vehicles just like the one Tadd posted up. I really don't even want to do the design that Doug has produced. I want to make the entire intake out of sheetmetal. All I'm wanting to know is what size aluminum is sutiable for forced induction intakes. 3/16", 1/4", 3/8" whatever I'm not asking someone for detailed pictures of the intake and all the specifications so I can make a replica. I'm sorry if I was misunderstood and thought I cleared this up in a previous post but obviously I didn't. No hard feelings. But if there is still some uncertianty here I DON'T WANT TO COPY DOUG'S FN' INTAKE!

Gotcha. For reference, the lids on Dougs intakes aren't sheet.
You might look around for a fairly recent thread from KEM Performance. They were the ones I believe who recently built a sheet/tube intake for their race truck. Very impressive looking piece.
The list of guys who have played with sheet/tube 6.0 intakes is a pretty short one (at least the ones I'm aware of):
KEM
Tadd
Doug
It would be interesting to see how much info they'd be willing to share on these.
The similar concept as the 03. Since the air flow comes in at an angle. The air favors the passengers side, especially with the egr valve part of the intake cut out. There is normally a flange that restricts the passengers air flow to balance the 2 sides out.
Yup 1200. I hope i can do doug's intake next year.
