Anyone running the PHP roll back, how do you like it? I have the vxcf9 flash now and it's took away some of my low end power and fuel mileage. Anyone have that happen to them? My old flash was the stock 06 flash, they flashed it last year, now it sucks to drive.
I have the sct tow tune in still, but none of them help my low end. I know so of the low end power lose is do to the powermax. My friends truck with the old updata would hit full power at 1700rpms then when the but the updata, 2800 rpms, same thing happened to me. The only time it hurts is pulling in the hot thin air, I pull above 5000' alot. And sucks have to put it in 4 low. No other truck needs to. I didn't need to last summer.
Your factory programming changed when the dealer flashed it, when you load SCT tune it overwrites it. So if you dont have updated tunes it should be no different than before you got flashed, I would get a custom updated tune so you get your power and mileage back and still get the benefits of the new strategy. I tow with hotter tunes because The power down low is there and I dont have to push the truck as hard. Something to think about, im also not studded
I got the vxcf4 tune and the vxcf9 tunes and the lowend take off is the same, the vxcf4 let's it lug better, think a full exhuast could help the lowend power. Also getting a new uppipe and plugging the cooler.
i had the vxcf9 and went back to vxcf4, this was not done through php so i have everything at the vxcf4 level. Meaning ficm has no inductive heating. (i think php can give you a vxcf4 with benifits of the vxcf9)
Now the differences:
- egt's are about 100 deg f lower on the vxcf4 (talking factory programing while towing)
- haven't noticed any fuel milage changes, mind you i have also not made any long distance trips to provide a true indication.
- switched to vxcf4 as i could not get a tune to function correctly, basically just smoked like crazy with no power, or had more power then it should for a tow tune. Tuner basically gave up and told me to switch back to vxcf4.(could have been a tuner issue as i know a few places were having problems when vxcf9 came out)
as for your conern, i honestly didn't notice any improved launch performance from the vxcf4.
just another thought, ford had an updated calibration to address high elevation power levels, i'm not sure if that was for the vxcf4 or vxcf1, but there is a tsb for that issue and it was just a calibration update. I would verify that your not droping back to a cal that could make things worse. (btw that was a tsb long before the vxcf9 came out)
The biggest resone I'm asking is because with my set up, mostly the powermax I have a lot of lag pulling. I will try and post a video when I get back intotown. When I went to the dump 14000lbs loaded, 12500lbs unload, empty trailer. Dirt very unleave, it took me 5-6 seconds to get boost so I could move. Just woundering if a rollback with help me out or if the pm is to big for just a tune at 4500' above sea level?
Thanks.
are your tunes for the powermax? 5-6 seconds? from all of the reviews that does not sound normal... but at that level it may be normal... not sure. Maybe get a new tune that has more aggressive fueling to spool it up faster for the upper elevations.
Do you have the stock exhaust system? I see you have no muffler, do you have your cat on? if you do have the cat on, remove that, it may help spool the turbo faster.
fix your sig. Coolant Filter
Talk to innovative or quick tricks about different flashes effecting spool up and the their tunes with the different flashes with spool up.
I just got a full 4" turbo back, putting it on Friday. I still have the cat. Need to clean it out a put a pipe through it. It spools way better at 2500' and lower, they gave me a few new tunes but it didn't help. So I was going to try the roll back after the exhaust. I'm wait for some extra money for some 175's. Thanks I'll fix my sig when I get to my computer.
I will talk to them after I get the exhuast on, i have a cat that some guy gave me to clean out, I've had them check to see if I had a cat in place before, don't want that fine. Will post back if that helps the lag time, thanks. And air filter is new.
