I just scored a mint adj. track bar for my 2004 F-350. It has a 2" add-a-leaf lift in the front. I am looking for some tips for install. I have no instructions. Thanks in advance!
I figured I would remove the stocker and let the suspension settle.. ? Then just adj. the new track bar in place and send it out for an alignment. Any input would be sweet! Thanks
Here is install instructions from Icon. http://www.iconvehicledynamics.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/3-92903-9350.pdf You are going to want the adjustable track bar longer than stock otherwise there is no purpose of having it adjustable. You should hang plumb bobs on both sides of the frame and then measure from the plumb to a standard location on the axle, like the back of the brake dust cover, knuckle, ball joint or whatever. And you want the same measurement on both sides so the axle is centered under the truck. You can use Pythagorean Theorem to figure this out too, a2+b2=c2 using the distance from the axle to frame mount on center as “a”, the height distance from those mounts on center as “b”, and you’ll get the length the track bars should be. But the axle needs to be centered to get a proper “a” measurement. Hope this make sense.
Torque bolts to 369 lb-ft of torque (FORD factory specifications).
It's in the link I posted. You can torque them as tight as your torque wrench goes and take the truck to a shop that has the $500 torque wrench. When I did it, the shop guy charged me $10.
