I've got a ball valve that I'm going to use to shut the flow of coolant off to my heater core. My question is which hose is the supply? Is it the one that comes off the top of the water pump?
10-4 Thanks... I just got it installed and its defin a noticable difference before and after.. I added an extra 2 ft of heater hose so I could put the ball valve close enogh to reach it from standing on the ground...
That valve is from a ranger and some crews and exs...etc.. I have the valve and lines. I would like to see some pics of yours installed. Like where you T into vaccum and put the valve. Thanks
Bob at DieselSite sells a nice kit as well... But the valve requires cutting this and tapping this... It also costs about $150 bucks... The Ball valve cost me about $5 bucks total...
i used a 3/4 pex ball valve and picked up 2 5/8 hose barb fittings 6 hose clamps.. added that to the supply line of my heater core and where i could reach it from standing next to my truck.. Since i did it, 97 degrees here today with 90% humidity. And once my truck cools off in the cab i have to turn it down.. Very noticable and a great simple inexpensive mod for me...
being a vital fluid system, you would ideally want to cut down the amount of splices and clamp spots.... the less obstructions and splices, the lower chance of blowing something.
Nice... I'm going to Lowes tomorrow for the valve for mine. I've tested my AC before and I know it blows at 55 on max, and that's after it running for 45 mins on high, when it's about 90 out.
ok, i've looking around at various answers to the question below:
If I block off the line coming to from the passanger head, I'm I cutting off the return flow back to the water pump? If so that seems bad to be, at the least i should use some tee's to make a by pass of the heater core? Im i dumb or what?
I don't believe it'll hurt a thing, I've had mine on there for a while. I did mine with a vac shut off valve in the line coming off the head & every month or so I turn the heat on for a few minutes just to change the coolant in the heater core, probably don't need to but makes me feel a little better about the core.
