I Dont have the cash for a road armor bumper so i decided to make my own... and it will cool to say i built that! I am using 1/4 plate steel and it is gona proly weigh around 270Lbs... Here are some pics
I should have made the angled piece bigger between the top plate and front plate because it doesnt even look like there is one there... It is only a 1in strip.
Btw i just have everything tacked togather... When i get it done i will weld and grind everything as perfect as i can. I will ether bed liner it red or black what do you guys think?
Did you butt those shackle tabs onto the bumper, or do they run thru and get reinforced? If they are butted up, they will be pretty weak. Occasional tow yes... tugging war, no.
Heres how I did mine. I also noticed you only use 2 of the 5 bolts on the frame horn.
Any pulling will be directly from the mount plate, which is bolted to the frame horn. No pulling on the bumper itself.
1 1/8" hole for 1" celvis. Why so big? Becuase you cant wrap a strap or chain around a 1/2" celvis
