Just like the SX thread, let's hear some predictions! I'm thinking Villopoto may have it for outdoors, but it's a tough call. Dungey dominated last year and Stewart has a perfect 24-0 record. Looking forward to Grant and Canards returns too. Anyone know if Reed will be racing?
Isn't Stewart supposed to be only racing the first few races or something like that?? If he's out Villopoto gets my vote, but I'd bet if Stewarts there he's got it. He's just nuts on an outdoor track. I sure wish Canard would be healthy by then though... That could be a game changer IMO.
I think it is gonig to come down to these 3 riders... Reed, Villipoto, and Alessi. I'm not a huge 800 fan but I am thinking he has been healthy and is crazy fast outdoors.
We don't know for certain if Reed is even going to ride. It's almost certain that Bubba won't. Pourcel is a total wild card on the Valli Yamaha. Windham will be under the Honda tent at least until Canard and Grant come back. Even Alessi outdoors on the 450 could be a serious threat w/ Decoster dialing him in. After all he was the only rider to keep Bubba honest about 3 years ago and he has built up some momentum as well.
All that said Villo is the obvious most likely candidate as he runs so fast outdoors and he has all of the momentum in his corner. But that could get boring.
I'm going to take a silly gamble here and go w/ 800 MA on this one just because of the highly superior Austrian engineering under his 125# ass and the International Man of MX in his corner.
Is James really not going to run a full outdoors? There were those rumors a while back that he bought out L&M so he would be able to ride a full season, that it was Larry Brooks not wanting him to run. You would think after a rough SX year he would want to go out there and prove himself...
Hhaha you just couldn't take it knowing someone said that and you may have to wait a couple of hours to respond!! LOL
I have to agree tho, Alessi shines sometimes but lacks the consistency in my opinion. Plus I don't care for the guy even less than Stewart. "Believe the hype" my azz.
Well I'll either appear brilliant or stupid as hell in a few months I suppose.
Villo & Reed are the obvoius choices and Bubba if he shows up but just to make it interesting I had to choose someone outside of the box.
But there are a few very significant facts to consider about MA800.
-he was the only guy to consistently run w/ Bubba a few years ago ('08?)
-the following year the championship was his until he shattered the knee cap
-MA seems to have gotten his start mojo back
-he needed a 450, well he has got it
-he has the same team boss that he had at Suzuki during his best years
-the KTM team (if not the 450) are much more dialed in now
-800 has gained notable traction over the Supercross season. Really he should have been a contender for the "ride hard, rock on" award or whatever if you look at the improvements he has made this season
I'd be shocked if MA didn't finish the series top 3 if he stays healthy that's for sure.
I agree Suns, Alessi has always been up there in MX. He shouldn't be underestimated. He will have some great rides if he doesn't crash. Remember he won a moto at Hangtown with the 350...
I cannot wait for motocross... going to be a great time. And yes... I had to post something while grabbing a bite to eat. BUSY day. LOL
Alessi- he is what everyone is talking about right now. first, the bike he is riding is "sold" as a 350cc bike. You have to remember that he is not giving up 100CCs. You can take that to the bank. not to mention what KTM did with the bike worked! Everyone is talking about how fast the 350cc bike is in a 450 class. Does not mean it is 350cc... has to start as a production bike though. Alessi can start, even to the days of him on 60s and 80s he could pull starts. That is one thing he is good at. I also feel he is better outdoors then in. However, he will show flashes of brilliance here and there but wont be in the title contention.
Canard- He will probably miss a few races. he is 1 month out of his Femur breakage and those are long hard recoveries. Once haled and up to speed he may have a win or so for a moto in him. I really just do not see him being a factor.
Lets jump to Stewart- if he does not race MX he is a coward. so much for in it for the love of the sport and not the money. He is the new Ochocinco of MX. However, he would be my pick if he does show uo to race. If it is ust the first 4 he will be looking for the fame to go to the MX des nations
Dungey- he will be right there every week. especially with no Canard and Stewart. It will be a pretty good MX season before he goes to ride for that GAY tutu motorsports next year.
Reed- feelings aside he will be racing the Mx this year under his own name. He will be there like supercross but just miss the mustard.
Poto- my pick for the MX season if he stays healthy. he is consistent in the outdoors and fast too
CP- I think he might have flashes of brilliance and speed like Alessi but wont be a contender. He is on what most would call the most "privateer" team out there. he usually fades and has conditioning issues.
If Alessi can keep from crying during the race he will do well! Reed Im not so sure of. Stewart definately needs to make a statement!!!! Dungey needs to show why he is wearing the red plate. Ginger, well.... As bad as i dont want to say it, I think he will be sporting the red back ground for supercross and outdoors in 2012 if he stays healthy!
On the cheating thing, well they run stock displacement (Privateer 250F guys run BB kits however) and the fuel gets tested for O2 and Lead. Everything else they cheat on but I'm honestly not sure it makes a hill of beans.
My buddy blind bid for a charity event on Kevin Windham's bike in 2007 and won it for $14K. My friend got to watch the Dallas Supercross from the team transporter. Kevin road it off the Supercross track, the mechanics swapped the motor only for a new stock one while my friend watched, they dialed in the same suspension that Kevin had just been on for my friend on a machine that moved the suspension all around, and handed it to my friend just as Kevin raced it, except for the engine. And that CRF450 was no better or worse than any other CRF450. That bike is still owned by another one of our friends.
The factories sometimes alter geometry in the frames, trick transmissions (supercross whoops kill stock transmissions), etc...stuff that is technically illegal but probably wouldn't make most riders any faster anyways.
It's hard to vote against 'poto for the MX Championship. That's why I have to go w/ #800.
I'm gonna have to go with Ginger he has tons of speed outdoors and has momoentum. Stewart better run all of the outdoors or he is as big an ass as you all say he is! 250's I'm saying Tomac brings it home. Won't be up for the title but will def be watching #27 as well on what is the closest thing to a privateer bike out there.
Read on Racer X that Reed and Windham had some kind of minor mechanical issue in the first moto. Same part on both their bikes. Don't know how bad it effected him but maybe he could have had moto 1 also...
Old news??? It was dated yesterday. If you read the article it says that he was arrested again because formal charges were filed for a felony case. This happens all the time. It's called building a case.
