Figured I'd start a thread on this because I haven't seen one & it appears to be a controversial subject. I know you can build a 1 piece drive shaft for a CCLB but I've heard you can't get it to balance over 60mph. Others say it can be done but I haven't seen one on a daily driver yet. I know for a fact that a ext cab long bed or a CCSB can take one but I've heard that's the limit. I'm hoping maybe some drive line experts can chime in on this subject.

just my opinion, but i would call Driveshaft Specialists in texas. Talk to Craig.

I just put my one piece in last weekend from them. I have a supercab long bed.

Super nice quality work. .083 tubing i believe. 3.5 diameter for me. I upgraded to spicer long life sealed joints.

They use a double cardan joint at the transfer case.

I was very impressed with their customer service. I was referred to them from a buddy and I checked out their internet site and gave them a call. ORdered monday morning and it was on my porch in IL from TX by Friday. Shipping was reasonable too, only $45.

If you are serious, i will post up some pics.

i dont recall off the top of my head what part of texas. they have a web site. EDIT:sticker says san antonio

I originally called looking for a 2 piece replacement. He suggested a one piece. I told him everythign I do with the truck including towing everyday and towing heavy. He said no problemo. Craig was very helpful. He is a sales associate there as well as works in the shop building the shafts. Knowledgeable guy.

Before you buy try Tom Woods. I have bought 2 shafts from them, and there was no upgrade to premium joints etc., they came with them standard, and were a tad over $500. My ecsb saw 136mph on gps and was smooth as silk. Lifetime guarantee also.

i vote yes, like i said when we talked about it, as long as they do a good balance job and get it welded good and straight.

there is a limit to length. I think they said it was 68" tube length ish. I could be wrong.

He told me take the measurement and he will see if it falls in the acceptable category and that if it was borderline he wouldnt do it. mine is a supercab long bed tho.

Also consider, 68" tube length im assuming doesn't count with the double cardan and slip joint length.
