You are confused.

The stock compressor wheel exducer is 80mm and the inducer is 59.87mm (56trim).

The 38r compressor wheel exducer is 88mm and the inducer is 65.86mm (56 trim).

The turbine wheel on both turbos has a 76.20mm inducer and a 67.73mm exducer (79 trim).

Where did you find those turbine wheel specs, 444? I've looked before and never found them. I'm not doubting you, just I haven't seen them published before. It's good info to have handy for those who ask.

All of the 7.3l turbos fall into the GTP38 (pre-'98 were TP38) model range. This is a frame size that was created just for the Powerstroke engine, and is reverse rotation. Turbine wheel inducer (larger diameter) size is 76.2mm. This puts it right between the standard GT37 and GT40 frame sizes. This makes it just a bit larger than a T04.

Main differences between the GTP38 truck turbo and van turbo is that the turbine wheel trim (smaller diameter squared/larger diameter squared) is larger on the van turbo (84 vs. 79) and the van turbo was supplied with a 1.15A/r non-wastegated turbine housing vs. the 0.84 wastegated housing on the truck turbo. Because of the difference in turbine wheel trim, the housings are not interchangeable.
That is a quote from beanbooger on TDS several years ago. He was the Garrett Engineer that developed the 38r. I have also measured the wheels since then.

What does the trim mean??I am still learning so go easy on me.

Is it the angle at witch the blade is at.Less trim the flatter the blade lays,the more trim the higher the angle of the blade?
