Count the bolts on the turbo compressor housing. 4=early, 5=late.

the orange spider is the 99.5 the other is the E99(click on pic to make it bigger) look at the leg for the driver side IC pipe..the E99 leg gets smaller as it enters the belly of the spider..the 99.5 (orange spider) stays a full 3 inches as it enters the belly..you will also see the the 99.5 has the AIH (gold fitting that is now a boost port) on the pasanger side IC inlet and the E99 has nothing..

ok so I have a 1999, Build date is 3/99 on the sticker

but...

I have a AIH, Foil on the IC drivers side pipe, I have a door badge, I have a cruise control light in the gauge cluster.


so is mine 99 or 99.5?

also has 5 bolts on the Turbine housing, but Late 99 with a build date of 3/99???

or is my truck a mutt? the motor had been replaced before I bought it, but I thought it was just rebuilt. I need to call my buddy that did it...

Whe It got rebuilt they might have put a late 99 engine in. What pcm code do you have?

Lonald Early 99s have build dates pre 99. So like late 98. Yours is a late 99. The intake heater and 5 bolts in turbo with door badges are a dead givaway.

I think the change date was somewhere around 12-8-98 or somewhere thereabouts. Some changes like badges and such could go either way but the eng changes occured around that time frame.
