Pros and cons, HIDs or Projectors?

Okay diesel friends, I have some questions about H I D headlights or projector headlights. I'm currently working on my F250 making some modifications and would like some black headlights for the finishing touch. I'd like to know more about the H I D headlights and the projector headlights, has anybody had any trouble with either of these if so what trouble?

i run HID in everything i own, i love them and can see much beter at night and can be seen better in daytime ( mainly applies to my motorcylces), you will prob need to adjust your lights because you will be blinding ppl i recomend 5000k - 8000k anything more cops say they are too blue looking. i run 8000k, state trooper just happened to be who i blinded lol, i have had projectors in the past i not a real fan of them

Re: Pros and cons, HIDs or Projectors?

I ran 6k 55w hid's in my 2005. Then decided to go with a whiter light which would be 5k color temperature and absolutely love the whiter color. The blue look isn't for me but I'm running the 5k in my 2010 and also in my 2012 in the head lights(55w) and fogs(35w) and they are great. I have the head lights re aimed and I don't get flashed which alot of people say don't do hid's in a halogen bulb reflector type housing, only in projectors.

What I find is that the aftermarket headlights they sell for our trucks use an h1 bulb which is very small and typically used for fog lights. Alot of cars typically use a h7 which is a brighter bulb in the projectors of cars that come factory with that type of headlight design. Also the projectors that you see on eBay have a cheap projector design and really are only for looks. The only way I would do projectors is if I did a retro fit from retro solutions and installed their projectors in the stock housing that way you know your using quality projectors and not just cheap junk that looks like the real thing.

anyone had trouble burning the chrome finish on the inside of their fog lights? i put 35W 6k HIDs in my truck and it is starting to melt the inside.... also i had to reverse the plug on them for it to work and they flash bright then dim out and slowly get bright again when i first turn them on. anyone else seeing this?

Re: Pros and cons, HIDs or Projectors?

I went with both Recon projectors (because I love the look of the black) and stuck HID 6K in them (great combo). I have 5K in the fogs and I do like the white the 5K puts out over the blue of the 6K. If I did it again I would do 5K in the projector.
