I collect turn of the century stuff, right now I am dabbling in early 1900s fans. This was built by Westinghouse just over 100 years ago. How many of todays fans will exist much less run in 2111?
Thats cool looking fan. I hope you dont have kids or very good insurance hah. I do think the old all metal fans or anything from back in the day that looks crazy(safety wise) compared to what we have now days.
I have 4 kids, each of them has had a similarly aged fans in their rooms for years. During the summer they run to help with cooling bills. Not a single one has ever been hurt by the fans. They were taught from a young age that they could get hurt.

how many old people have lost fingers due to these same fans and the like (not many). We need to start teaching kids safety and common sense, not always rely on cages,,,,,,
I used fans not much newer than that as a kid and I still have all of my digits, heck when we got a little older we figured out that you could (on some fans) stick your finger against the blades when moving slow and they would make funny noises LOL

Oh I absolutely agree, just more of a shock when you look at how fans are now vs how they were back then.
Besides there is absolutely no way to idiot proof something, since they are always coming out with better idiots by the day
