2 big 4 wheelers in a CCLB truck?

Here's my plan...

Truck Bed Extender

+ a floor of 2x10's haven't measures but from the front of the bed over the extender.

Support the bed extender underneath while loading and get the grizzly up on he 2x10's up in front of the bed. Then load the Honda. I figured the 2x10's will support most of the weight and the bed extender will just be there for minimal support. Plan to drive Houston, Tx to Cincy, Oh this way.. Comments?

Make sure they are all strapping in right and the 2x10's won't slide...

not sure.. don't even have the grizzly yet.. but I know my honda fits in the bed, tail gate up tool box in the bed.. so tail gate down and tool box out plus bed extender.. I figured i could get them both on 12ft of flooring (could always go up if I had too) I also think the 2x10's would be able to support a good portion of the weight as to not overload the bed extender.. would you agree with that?

It will be "spongy" on the 2x10s between the tailgaite and bed extender. 2x's aren't very strong laying down.

Also, the bed extender will have the full weight of the 4-wheeler on it while loading/unloading. Will it support that weight?

Re: 2 big 4 wheelers in a CCLB truck?

My dad is a mason and we span a normal scaffolding buck with 4 of them and set an entire cube of brick on them... They do bend but don't hardly ever break.... I figure what the 2x's can support plus the claimed 350lbs of support the bed extender offers should be ok.. i reckon about 50% of the back wheeler would be in the bed but realistically could be less.. would be nice if the front rack of the honda fit UNDER the back of the griz, i have no idea tho...

I'm saying the 2x's will reduce the amount of weight the extender will need to support.... likely to use qty. (2) 2x10's next to each other for each wheel.. I quess I could always upgrade to something stiffer to remove more load from the bed extender..

If you built a floor with the 2 x 10's up on edge like floor joists maybe. 2 bigger quads end to end should fit on 12'-0" I think your best bet would be to take the money your gonna spend on all this and rent an open trailer for the trip.

Re: 2 big 4 wheelers in a CCLB truck?

couldn't you hop the wheels of the front quad up on the tool box and then hop the wheels of the rear quad up on the back fenders of the front?

I know I have also seen quads standing vertical in the back of trucks too, but then again I guess thats the perks of having light weight 2wd quads.
