7.3 vs a 460 gasser

My dad is getting on my last nerve because he has a 1983 F250 4x4 with a 460 and 4.10 gears and a 4 speed tranny. We have a 18 foot gooseneck and tow a massey 175 tractor. All I hear from him is how his truck can go up the one hill we tow up often alot faster than mine and it has gotten to the point were he wants us to go there and see who can tow faster. He is 62 years old and I keep telling him this is childish but his constant nagging is making me want to do it. My truck has 3.55 gears and I know that would hurt me some but I have towed with both trucks and his truck has power but when it comes down to hitting a hill with my truck in 3rd gear it pulls alot harder than his. Sorry to rant but I am sick of it. He always talks about doing it title for title.

If it was a hill very long he would run out of gas first

I don't know, a 460 with 4.10's might give you a run for your money...Just go for it, if you win you win, if you lose just say you didn't want to hurt his feelings

2001 CCSB 4x4, auto. DP-Tuner, AFE Stage II, 4" exhaust, DiPricol Gauges. Slow...but faster than it was

Re: 7.3 vs a 460 gasser

I had a 97 CCSB2wd 460 EFI that ran damn good, wsnt a 454 that could hang.
So I was very skeptical about my 1st PSD. At 1st, the 460 would spank it, but after just basic mods and expirementing with different oils...?
Put it to you this way, I can pull 10k up a 3% grade in o/d at 70mph w/o downshifting, the 460 couldn't pull that grade bobtail w/o DS'ing.

If your truck is stock he'll prolly beat you.

Doesn't roll with anyone or tag along to be cool...

My truck is bone stock and he has a 4 barrel carb that is new and not stock but his engine is suffering from wear over the years but it does pull good but the amount of energy I get from a gallon of fuel compared to him is way better
