MPG 05 Excursion 6.0

Ok I just bought a 05 Excursion 6.0 4x4 with 35's. I have 23k miles. I am getting 12.3 MPG around twn and 12.4 on the hwy with the cruise set at 75. When I bought it I was hoping to get 15 and 18 on the hwy. I am running b99. I have custom tunes from Innovative, I dont have them in right now cause there is a problem with them sct is working on it. I also have MBPR exhaust i am going to be installing when I have time. So right now I am stock except for the 35's. Any suggestions. owe and even when i had the tune in it made no difference.

Re: MPG 05 Excursion 6.0

is your speedo calibrated for the larger tires?

If not your ODO is off and your mileage via the computer or hand calculated is incorrect.

Also a key to better fuel economy is keep it under 2k RPM's

Exaclty what Adam said. My friend had a 04 with exact same setup, but not on B99. No matter what you did, it said 12.4. Because of the bigger tires you are actually traveling further then what your odometer says. You are also going faster than 75, the speedo is off too...

yep..you need to get on the highway..find a mile marker and go 10 miles according to mile markers (they are pretty accurate) and then you can see how far off you ODO is per mile..my guess is for every 10 miles your odo shows you have actually driven 11.75-12

Adam, do you happen to know how many revs/mile a 35" is?

Nope it only does Aspect Ratio style calc, not inch's. Thanks anyway. Why does the SCT have to be in Revs/mile

Re: MPG 05 Excursion 6.0

Ok I will try that.. I will say I have a gps and at 70 mph it is off my 4mph. So I was thinking I should add like 5%... still not exactly what I was hoping. I guess when I get my tune back from sct and my exhaust installed I will know better.
