ZF-6 JUNK

Is it just me or is anyone else have terrible problems outta there ZF-6? Granted i am packing a DD and dont try racing but i cant keep syncos or roll pins in the shift forks In the thing. thinkin bout buyin a re-man trans and startin fresh cuz the local trans shop sucks and im pre sure they put a curse on it haha.

No problems here. your being an 01, it's an S6-650. If you buy a reman, get the 03 and newer S6-750.

I've been having cold shift problems with mine. Going to dump the ATF and run full systhetic 75w90 gear oil.

I have heard of that. something about them changing the design a little bit. Know what changes were made?

If that is the case. Wouldnt it have to be from a 03 7.3 only as I think that 6.0s have a different bell housing? I'm wondering what was upgraded in the
S6 750.

00 f250 some stuff done always more to do.

My pilot bearing went out and took the whole trans with it and I replaced like 3 or 4 slave cyls in my 550....but thats about it!

I put like 80k on that truck, tho...

I have beat the sh*t out of mine for 8 years and never had one problem.

lol haha. I wish i had a trans i could daily drive w/o the bs let alone beat up. mine sounds like it went a few rounds with tyson and never got back up.

i'm surprised i havent had any issues with the slave cyl. i drove it from Indiana to Georgia today no major probs just kind of a howling/baby grindish sounding noise but im startin to think its the rear end howling. I checked the fluids in everything before i left so i dont know. guess i'll just wait and see what lets go.

Mine has lost the roll pin a few times in it and now it falls out. Of 6th gear and grinds pretty good going into 3rd

I have only replaced the slave/master cylinder once. Never had any other problems

2000 F250 7.3 PSD ZF6 4x4.
