I would remove the old mirrors, put the tow mirrors on the truck with the 2 top bolts, then mark the door where the bottom mounts need the hole drilled. Roll up the windows, remove the mirrors, drill the holes, then paint the bare metal. Remove the door panel, bolt mirrors on, put small stainless steel washers between the mirror and door and tighten everything down. I am getting ready to covert my truck to the big tow mirrors, and this is how I'm doing it. Good luck:fordoval:
I got the factory ford towing mirrors from another member on psn. Post up in the want to buy section or search junkyards if you want the factory ford tow mirrors.
I would be interested in trading my 2-post mounted ford mirriors for a set of stock single post mirriors the black ones. mine are in good shape. I whant the one's like Nasty96 has on his.. anyone wanna trade ? or have a set to sell ?

I like the middle sized mirrors(2 post) the best on these trucks. The little ones are really nice on the plow truck though because I can get really close to stuff.
My '97 has the big mirrors and I have aftermarket mirrors on them. The 'neck' part of the new mirrors is shorter than the Original Ford mirrors keeping me from turning them in(they hit the mount), I tend to hit them on things such as low hanging branches and other obstacles. I'd say they make the truck at least 3 ft wider.
black chrome I dont care there going to get painted black either way LOL..
my 2 post mirrior have rust on the mounts that connect to the door. My camera is lost right now so I figure I would just describe them but the mirriors are in good shape they just need some TLC.
I can tell you from many years fixing the door skins on these trucks stay away from the style with the 2 posts(aka big mirrors) those ones seem to not like the skins on these trucks don't know how many of them I had to repair because they had broken out of the door....
the best way to instal any of them though is with a nutsert insert, you drill your holes put them in and they compress, then insert your bolt from the outside thats how the factory did them...
What do you mean by west coast mirror? Because west coast mirrors do NOT just bolt on these trucks.
And what mirror do you currently have?
