Re: New to me 1997 F350 7.3 4 door long bed 5 speed 4x4 - Let the buildup begin! HELP!!

heck yeah I love to save old Iron, thanks for the compliments. I have been daily driving a Bronco II for almost 20 years now. It has allowed me to afford some really cool toys to add to my stable. Good old reliable FORD TRUCKS!!
This 97 is my new baby.
I am thinking dark blue monstaliner cab and aluminum flatbed
Rear discs, custom interior, and whatever else I can come up with

I use this truck to haul firewood (we burn 14 cords a winter) and to haul a Polaris Ace (flatbed), Rzr XP10004 and a XP1K on my 24' bumper pull deck over. Of course the kids, dog and gear have to come along too.
So you can see why I always wanted a 4 door 7.3 e longbed!!

Lately I have been building kids mini quads, the last one looked like it was completely submerged in water for about 12 years before I got it
Running great now after full rebuild and customize! Now Im doing another Lt80 just like this one

Today I got the radiator, batteries, thermostat, belt and water pump out.
So much shaft play the impeller is rubbing the housing. Ordered a new AC Delco unit from Rockauto along with a thermo and a tensioner setup.
I need a larger fan wrench, mine is about 1" too small
So I removed the pump with fan attached
Tomorrow I remove the turbo and pedestal
Will be ready for parts!

How hard / expensive isit to rebuild/ring the Oil cooler? It looks rather accessible right now
Collecting parts for 7.3 compression adapter

Note to self also needs hubs

Quick question:

I have been told that a Supreduty turbo will bolt onto OBS 7.3 for a slight upgrade.
I have rebuild kit and billet wheel on its way to me, kit says 96-03 7.3 turbos

I have the opportunity to buy a 180K mile turbo from a 99 superduty for $75
Should I do it? Rebuild the 99 housing instead? Is there any benefit here?

Thanks!

There is way more to it than just the turbo. You need the drivers side exhaust manifold, pedestal, intake plenums, spider, up pipes and intercooler and piping. It's a good way to get an intercooler only if you have the parts from a donor truck. Too expensive to buy it all seperate.

01 f-250, Standard
Rev tech 4" lift, 37" military wrangler Mt tires
KC diy 66, Full force 160/100 and custom tunes from PHP
Banks intercooler and full 4" exhaust, Diy S&B intake
Diy quad feed, Hydra, Isspro boost, pyro, and fuel pressure
3/0 battery cables with military style terminals

Cheap laptop idea... Look into "chrome books" they're android pc's and usually can get one new for 150 or so. Not sure if it would be compatible with the programs, but could definitely save a few bucks if it is...
