97 f250 front axle shaft removal

Workin on my friends 97 f250 D50 TTB. Replacing the ball joints and axle u joints. Havin a hard time getting the pass axle shaft out of the spider gear. Its been a while since i worked on one of these but dont they just "pop" out w a little effort? There isn't a "c" clip that i have to pull out, right?

And also his outer axle shaft i bad due to severly worn out wheel bearings. The axle has a groove worn into it where it has been rubbing the spindle. Anyone ever run into this?

Looking for Blue 40-20-40 seat for OBS. PM me if any known

The passenger side inner shaft has a C-clip inside the diff, if you want to pull the shaft completely out, you'll have to drop the 3rd member. Otherwise, split the shaft where the slip boot is at.

I've never seen the axleshaft being worn like that myself, but I'm sure it's very possible. If it's not fixable or it's where the bearing rides, you're going to need another shaft.

Re: 97 f250 front axle shaft removal

Well i pulled the 3dr member but the c clip got f'd up from tryin to force the axle out. Got a new inner spindle needle bearing, outer axle shaft, and c clip. Ended up not really needing the inner u joint but while we were in there it got it. 3 greaeable axle joints, 4 greasable ball joints, repacked wheel bearings, greased the spindle needle bearings, greased the steering linkage, tire rotation o and i cant forget the swimsuit calender from Collis truck parts for being a valued customer And the front end is like new
