Re: Fuel mileage mods?

manuals get better mpg. keep lockouts unlocked. lighter foot. intake may help a little. exhaust may help a little. a good tuner with eco tune help a bit. keep tires psi higher, 70-80. check your wheel bearings and grease the needle bearings. Welcome to guzzle's 4x4 Needle Bearing Maintenance Web Page dont haul around unnecessary things. summer your mpg will go back up.

Re: Fuel mileage mods?

There's a whole sub-forum on mileage.
MPG - Fuel Economy Discussion - PowerStrokeNation : Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum
13-14 mpg sounds fairly good for a crew cab dually. A manual trans is more fuel efficient and was your F250 a crew cab? Adding cab size increases weight. Dual rears increases rolling resistance. I'm far from expert, but I hope the mpg forum helps.

'00 F350 LBCC DRW 4X4 with Spectre filter, muff delete. TS 6 pos chip in hand (Not in truck). In-bed fuel tank. 480 K miles on truck, 180K on current engine. Former FEMA hauler. Gooseneck ball and 16K 5th hitch. Has the pump and controls for air-bags, but no bags.(yet)

Re: Fuel mileage mods?

Naw ww, these things can get decent mpg too....I can get over 20 with my 7.3 6 speed truck. Just drive it like grandpa! But realistically I normally get 17 to 18..... I think if you get 16 in your dually you'll be doing good though. But like already stated winter mpg will normally be a mpg or 2 less

oh so we should just settle with the mileage it gets and not try to increase that at all? well why try to make more power out of your truck then? it makes so much factory, deal with it.

Re: Fuel mileage mods?

these trucks are pretty much set to go from the factory the best for mpg. you could stick skinnier tires on there, re gear to 3.08s or put a gear vendors overdrive on there. but as far as engine mods these things are good to go mpg wise. rolling resisstance improvments(free spin kit, skinny tires) and wieght reduction(tires, rims, uneeded items in truck run half tank of fuel instead of full) will get you the most results.

Re: Fuel mileage mods?

There is a hell of a lot more room to increase power than there is to improve mileage.
