Low boost issue..........

It's done this since I got it 2 weeks ago. I changed the oil, filter, fuel filter, and replaced the EPV sensor tube. It doesn't blow any smoke like the fuel is there, but the air isn't. There's no smoke at all. I installed my boost gauge out of my Ford Probe and the truck will show 1-3 pounds at WOT until about 2,500rpms, then runs up to 10 pounds until it shifts around 3,200rpms. Also, once it starts making boost around 2,500-2,700rpms, there's a God awful squeal kind of like a tea kettle, almost like something is in the way of the airflow. It;s either not making enough boost due to a restriction and the MAP sensor is telling it to cut fuel or it's not producing enough fuel to make the heat it needs to make boost due to an injector or something being bad. Maybe the EBPV flapper/butterfly???

Re: Low boost issue..........

It also shakes pretty good at 1,500rpms or lower when in overdrive.

Re: Low boost issue..........

are you getting any low boost codes? How much play is in the turbo wheel left to right and up and down? Sounds to me like your wheel is coming in contact with the housing and causing the noise you mentioned

It throws a p1247 and you may be right. I haven't checked the wheel yet, but it does sound like putting a paper clip into a fan, but at a lot higher speed, so it could be hitting. I'm going to check it tonight/tomorrow to see if the intake side is worn from "dusting" or if it's making contact.

Re: Low boost issue..........

And I checked my average after my first tank of fuel and it was 15.1mpg. I only drive it to work at the moment so thats 25 miles highway 1 way, 4 days a week. I should be getting alot better mileage than that.

But wouldn't it blow a little black smoke when floored from a stop due to the computer adding x amount of fuel assuming x amount of boost will be there if it was a boost issue and not a fuel issue?
