powerstroke smoking/hazing at idle

I have a 2000 F350 7.3L with the mods in my sig. I noticed about 1500 miles ago the truck hazing/smoking (whitish color)at idle cold or warm. All my gauges are reading properly. No fuel leaks. Truck runs properly and sounds good. Truck looks like a hoopty at stop signs and signals when it is smoking/hazing.

2003 F250 4x4 SCSB lariat 6.0L auto, 4" lift, 35" nittos, sct tuner with IDP tunes, S&B intake, Power max turbo, blue fuel spring upgrade, fass fuel system, fs2500 oil filtration system, arp head studs, egr cooler deleted, bd exhaust brake, 4" stainless steel exhaust, gogo shift solenoid, ats deep trans pan, mag hytec diff covers, isspro gauges

Have you ran a Contribution test on the injectors? White smoke commonly indicates unburnt fuel most likely left over in the cylinder after shut down. Even when the truck warms up to operating temps you say it still does it?

yea even when it is warmed up! Injectors have about 2500 miles on them. They were replaced 2 months ago.

Re: powerstroke smoking/hazing at idle

Who replaced them and what were they replaced with? could be another bad inj or maybe a oring got cut during the install. I would listen to jody/diane and hook it up to a AE or some type of scan tool.

good luck, mines doing the same thing but im 99% sure its low compression or a bad injector and plan to find out soon.

Re: powerstroke smoking/hazing at idle

me and a buddy put them in and he has done them before, he knew all the little tricks. I got the injectors from full force diesel, they have a warranty.

Does the exhaust smell like kerosene or nasty burning oil when it is hazing?

Re: powerstroke smoking/hazing at idle

Well, the little trick we techs use is:
you did something to it, and now it does "X"
so go back to what you did and start there.

In this case, I think you're looking at pulling/visually inspecting the injectors & O-rings.

Don't just sit back & speculate, pull them and check.
