Is it an AC sensor or DC? Thats going to be important, and i have no idea what came on those. But either way chances are really high that its a bad sensor. That's what sensors do when the start to go bad. They get hot and quit working intermittently.
The only way to definitively say what's bad is to watch the signal when it happens. But short of that, you can be pretty damn sure by ruling out any shorts to ground or shorts between wires. That doesn't rule out pcm problems or power and ground problems. But those are relatively rare.
I just changed the sensor so I'll see. I just got the truck so I'm unaware of the history. And honestly other than this I haven't found any issues. I'm pulling our horse trailer tomorrow so I'll see.
Would a data log be any help? I have a predator I can pull one with if so
Sounds typical of a failing CPS. The code even solidifies that.
Throw a new CPS in and see what happens. Buy an extra one to throw in the glove box. Also, only use Ford or International CPS'. Aftermarkets are prone to early failure or being bad right out of the box.
