Serpentine Belt

How long can you run the engine without the serpentine belt in place? A couple of seconds? A couple of minutes? Not at all?

Re: Serpentine Belt

I wouldn't want to run it longer than a than a minute or so. The temp gauge will go up really fast. Just long enough to eliminate a pully from making a noise.

Re: Serpentine Belt

And no alternator charging your batteries... which is no where near as important as the water pump not turning though.
