Re: EGT probe location

My EGT's have been reading low on my new Quadzilla Commander from what everyone else reports. Then I realized it was installed post-turbo! Guess that's what I get for paying someone else to do it!

Definitely install it on the driver's side exhaust manifold where it has turned up to the turbo so that you can check your numbers with everyone else.

Re: EGT probe location

What tank said, Dirvers side manifold, always want EGT readings PRE-TURBO, Dieselmanor is where i got my instructions for my gauge install. Just take your time drilling and tapping the manifold, best bet is usually to take the manifold off and do the work, but ive seen guys drill and tap with the manifold on, just used some grease on their drill bits. Someone please correct me if im wrong on this.

Re: EGT probe location

Per DieselManor, "The practice of coating your drill bits with grease is also a very bad idea. The flutes of a drill bit are designed to remove chips outward. By loading these flutes up with grease all you would be doing is making it more difficult for them to perform as designed. Also, grease will cause some of the shavings to stick on the inside of the manifold, making it difficult to remove later with a vacuum cleaner."
