58 volt ficm

got my 2005 f350 6.0 and stock ficm is going out and was wondering about getting a 58 volt upgrade was seeing if any body can give me any imput good or bad.

I have one from swamps, I cant say anything bad about it. Didnt notice a difference after putting it in. All I can say is if you can upgrade a part.......DO IT

Mostly everyone I talk to dont really see a gain in performance numbers with just a 58v upgrade but do notice a real difference when they have it with a FICM tune. JMO.

There are no negatives for running a 58v FICM other than your FICM voltage with a CTS wont be accurate as it only reads up to 50.0v so everything above that you wont see.

06 F350 4x4: Non-VGT 67mm Turbo, WPE Big Oil HPOP, HD 215/85s, Race Ported Intake, NB/Warren Tranny, and some other stuff.... 100k miles and counting....

06 F250 2wd: Stock... EGR delete, Race Ported Intake, and a mild street tune.... Leaking HGs

I have a Swamp's 58v FICM I got last year at this time. My truck was in BD's shop getting an EGR delete when the FICM arrived so I took it over to the shop to have it installed and flashed. Mine throws the p0611 code, I think that's it, and it actually only read 54v when it was installed. It was $500 cheaper for me to get the Swamps unit then a replacement from Ford. The only performance increase I saw was it wasn't dead in the driveway anymore.

I stand behind the Swamps Diesel's 58V FICM's. I have sold and installed over 100 units and had 1 go bad. Swamps warrantied it right away.

Keep the charging system and batteries good!!!

You could try it yourself. I don't have the nerve though. You screw up and your buying a new one.


Dave when a FICM is sent in you don't get the same one back correct? So is the version and whatever else read off the old FICM that is sent in so that the modded one returned is correctly "married" to the PCM? I have an '05 Ex and was told the coding is different then the '05 pickups.

SCT, no studs...yet, Dual OEM intake air filter housings, Banks intercooler & intake elbow, Banks exhaust syatem, Windrunner ported intake manifold, Bullet Proof Diesel remote oil cooler & thermostat, AirDog2 (plus a couple spares), Power steering filter (Amsoil dual-bypass), MagTec deep ATF pan, Electric oil pre-lub pump, Dakota Digital gauges.

I got mine fixed at FICMrepair.com.
Ed did a GREAT job.
He said that the 58v can make them less reliable ?
I went with the upgraded repair for $325.
My FICM is also tuned from PHP and that made a nice improvement and a 1-1.5 jump in mpg's.

Swamps Pionered the 58volt mod on the ficm and i have yet to see it less reliablem, We hae over 150-200k miles on the test truck with one on it. I agree on a moded truck i noticed little diffrence, but my sotp meter sucks however on a bone stock service truck i have noticed huge diffrences. So much that i do not even keep 48volts in stock anymore i talk everyone into upgrading to the 58 volts. And if you send yours in to be moded you will recieve yours back

Is the 58 volts supossed to make the truck start smoother in cold weather like when its 20* out?
