6.0L Tranny question

Sorry this maybe in the wrong spot, but I need some help again. This morning I was driving to work (42 miles) I had it in 4 wheel drive. The front hubs manually locked and the switch on 4 high. Was doing 45 mph coming into town and slowly letting of the gas and "pop" tranny slipped and then it went into limp mode. Tow haul light flashing and not shifting into over drive. Got this pile home and pulled the codes P0730 "Incorrect gear ratio" and P2703 " Transmission Friction element D apply time range performance" what does this all mean. Is my tranny smoked or just a bad valve any ideas would be great. thank you
Travis

Re: 6.0L Tranny question

a fluid I purchased from Ford I don't remember what brand it was I do remeber writing the check for the fuild, filter and the most expensive fuel filter I have ever bought. not trying to be a smart ass just super fustrated with this. Had this F%$king thing for 3 months and have already put in a 350.00 injector now who knows what its going to take to get it back on the road and in the mean time while this truck is down I have to drive my f350 with a 7.5l (460 gas)in it that uses a 1/2 tank of gas getting to work and back a day. Just really down about this. i'm really paying the price for being loyal to Fords

Re: 6.0L Tranny question

The first step is to read the codes which will tell you why the Tow/Haul light is flashing. Then we will know where to start looking.

Re: 6.0L Tranny question

One of the clutches, and I don't have my secret decoder ring, isn't applying when it should. This puts the trans in the wrong ratio. The PCM detected these things. Someone has a list that shows which ratio is wrong and which clutch is element D. The Ford shop manual has a flow chart to diagnose these errors.
