Re: How many quarts of oil 6.0?

As stated 15qts get a 5w40 Syn oil and use Ford or Racor filters only you can get them at Walmart FL-2016 and Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 Full Synthetic or Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 is a fully synthetic your injectors will like it will cut down on stiction and cokeing a big problem with the 6.0 and the max is 5000 miles because of the shear of the oil by the injectors.

Check your oil level after 14.5 quarts and see where you stand. I haven't gotten 15 in mine yet.

Also, I leave my oil level a little lower than most. (just a little above halfway) So I can catch if ever an injector starts to leak and fuel starts getting into my oil. Rise in oil level isn't a good thing.

The full charge is 18 quarts (on a dry engine).

To get to the full mark when changing oil can take you 13.5 qts, 14 qts, 14.5 qts, or 15 qts. Who knows why the variability, but filling past the full mark doesn't make any sense to me. I like your reasoning amdriven2liv.
